Dug's Great Big GardenFractions3rd Grade
Storyline
Students will use their knowledge of simple fractions to determine the best way to plant seeds in Dug's greenhouse.
Dug has built some amazing greenhouses on Areva and needs the crew's help to plant his seeds correctly. Students will use their knowledge of fractions to identify and model equivalent fractions that will guide how Dug plants crops in his greenhouses.

Science and Engineering Practices
Developing and Using Models
Collaboratively develop and/or revise a model based on evidence that shows the relationships among variables for frequent and regular occurring events.
Develop a model using an analogy, example, or abstract representation to describe a scientific principle or design solution.
Develop a diagram or simple physical prototype to convey a proposed object, tool, or process.
Using Mathematics and Computational Thinking
Describe, measure, estimate, and/or graph quantities (e.g., area, volume, weight, time) to address scientific and engineering questions and problems.
