Students Receive Information
Each team is assigned a different group to learn about (Saurucians, The Fofa Alliance, Viper Territory Humans, GAL-Delilahs, and Dug). They each received a fact sheet to read about their group and learn about what they are like and how to win them over. Then, they will discuss three words that describe their group and then answer a comprehension question about their group.
The Saurucians: strong, competitive, resilient, proud, brave, aggressive
The Fofa Alliance: attention-seeking, elegant, proud, mischievous, vain, flashy
Viper Territory Humans: adventurous, independent, risk-taking, creative, non-conformist
GAL-Delilahs: collaborative, helpful, team-oriented, environmental, efficient
Dug: cheerful, creative, fun-loving, peaceful, enthusiastic
Students Receive Information
Each team is assigned a different winter sport (skiing, ice hockey, figure skating, snowboarding, and bobsledding) that should appeal to their group. Students will read together about their sport and then they will discuss how to explain their sport to someone who hasn't ever heard of it before. Then, they'll discuss why they think their group would like their sport based on what they learned about them earlier.
The Saurucians: strong, competitive, resilient, proud, brave, aggressive (they would like hockey because it's fast-paced, requires strength, fighting is allowed, etc.)
The Fofa Alliance: attention-seeking, elegant, proud, mischievous, vain, flashy (they would like skiing because it's old, common, prestigious, classy, etc.)
Viper Territory Humans: adventurous, independent, risk-taking, creative, non-conformist (they would like snowboarding because it's new, innovative, cool, risky, etc.)
GAL-Delilahs: collaborative, helpful, team-oriented, environmental, efficient (they would like bobsledding because they could make their bobsled out of recycled materials, it requires teamwork and collaboration, etc.)
Dug: cheerful, creative, fun-loving, peaceful, enthusiastic (he would like figure skating because it's creative, colorful costumes are allowed, etc.)
